Description

Samuel Fowler appears in Gales & Martin (1787) as a fine scissor manufacturer in Westbar (an area just on the edge of the current city centre). His mark consists of three elements stacked horizontally, from top to bottom: a crown (or chamberstick, ref. Unwin, 2021) design; the outline of a cross; and the letter "F". He appears again with the same design in Robinson's (1797) as a fine scissorsmith at 62 Broad Lane. A Samuel Fowler is also listed as a scissor maker in Spring Street in Wardle & Bentham (1814).
