Description

A small pair of scissors with a bat shank and bodkin point. There is no shoulder transition and the cross section is cs2. They are marked somewhat crudely and wonkily above the pivot. The star and maltese cross designs that were the trademarks of Joseph Rodgers & Sons are present above the words "RODGER SHEFFIE ENGLAND".It is perhaps worth noting that as one of the best known Sheffield cutlers, imitations of the Rodgers' trademarks were relatively common, and their 1896 catalogue contains a warning against counterfeit goods. Crescent shaped pairing marks are visible on the unders.
