Description

A pair of universal multi tool scissors. There is no shoulder transition, cross section is cs4, and the point is asymmetrical (the two blades are also different lengths). The pivot allows the two halves of the scissors to be easily separated and put back together. The image in the Stanhope lens is in the format of a postcard of Bude, and says "Made In France". An advert for a pair sold by Wm. C. Hocking & Co., of Chicago, appears to show an almost identical pair, and lists the different functions as follows: 1 - Scissor 2 - Buttonhole 3 - Gaspipe Tong 4 - Cigar Cutter 5 - Wire Cutter 6 - Ruler 7 - Measure 8 - Nail File 9 - Screwdriver 10 - Cigar Box Opener 11 - Cartridge Extractor 12 - Hammer 13 - Pen Knife 14 - Glass Cutter 15 - Glass Breaker 16 - Marking Wheel 17 - Ink Eraser 18 - Stereoscope The advert is listed elsewhere as being from a magazine in 1907, potentially dating the scissors to the early part of the 20th century.
