This fountain stands as a focal point in the garden of the Camron-Stanford House. The fountain once stood at the home of the Tubbs Family, who lived across the lake in a neighborhood called Clinging Park. Hiram Tubbs owned the once-famed Tubbs Hotel in Oakland, and was one of the founders of Mountain View Cemetery. He was also quite involved with the railroad and transportation industries-- one rail line was locally known as "The Tubbs Line" for many years. In the second photo in this record, you can see the fountain while it stood in front of the Tubbs' family home in the 1880s. This photograph was taken on a rare day, when the water of the fountain froze into icicles.
