Portrait of Beatrice Cenci. This painting is a copy of the original by Ginevra Cantofoli. The original was once attributed to Guido Reni. The painting was collected during the Hewes party Grand Tour of Europe 1875-1877. Beatrice Cenci was a young noble woman in 16th century Rome. She was charged with the murder of her father, and the case was well documented at the time, with the tale continuing to resurface in dramatic retellings over the past several centuries.
