Portrait of Mrs. David Hewes (Matilda French Gray) in its original frame. Painted by Gambadella in Naples Italy in 1876, during the family's Grand Tour. Matilda had married David Hewes the previous year in Saratoga, NY and this Grand Tour was partially intended as an extended honeymoon. Hewes purchased many grand gifts for Matilda during the trip, several of which are on display in the Camron-Stanford House.
