This autograph book was owned by Alida B. Lewis, probably given as a Christmas gift in 1883. The signatures and written notes inside are from her mother, father, teachers, friends and acquaintances in Sacramento and other cities where Alida must have visited. Alida graduated from Sacramento High School in 1888; she married John Wendell Barrett, a farmer, in 1892 and went on to become a secretary and have two daughters. Alida died in 1927 in San Joaquin, California.
