Description

This Rockingham-glazed spittoon, or cuspidor, is a yellowware art pottery. It has a raised scalloped design on the body and a flared ribbed rim. The pattern has creamy highlights and a drainage hole on the pot's side. Rockingham is also sometimes mistakenly called "Bennington ware" after the town in Vermont that was home to the United States Pottery Company, which produced Rockingham glazed wares. However, this term is misleading since not all Rockingham wares were produced in Bennington.
