Description

This 8-inch brown glazed wide-band raised bottom crock pottery shows luminous colors that change when seen from different angles. Stoneware crocks are sturdy containers commonly used in kitchens from the 1700s through the early 20th century. Some stoneware crocks were used to prepare foods, while others were used to store or preserve foods. Stoneware crocks are also used for decorative purposes such as displaying candies, kitchen utensils, pens, or pencils. During the early 19th century, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania produced the most stoneware pottery in the U.S. New England states and Ohio, jumped on the stoneware bandwagon circa the late 19th century.
