Lisa Van Doren started as a cartographer in the Cartography and Editing Group and later in her 30-year career, was promoted to Electronic Designer. Originally from Wooster, Ohio, she came to the Survey in 1984 after receiving a bachelor’s degree in geography from Wittenberg University.
In 1995, she was the recipient of the Survey’s Employee of the Year award. During her time at the Survey, Lisa was involved in nearly all aspects of production of Survey publications and maps through the transition from hands-on fabrication to advanced computer processes. She was a leader in computerization of Survey maps and publications. She mastered the Survey’s Macintosh desktop publishing system and was extremely efficient in typesetting, design, and layout of Survey publications. She also enjoyed photographing geologic features for publications and developed the cataloging system of the Survey’s extensive collection of photographs.Photograph Details
