Description

Rockingham glaze yellowware plate. This glazed plate is speckled in deep brown and light beige colors on both sides. It has been finished in a thin mottled brown glaze, enabling the yellow pottery base to show through and giving it a tortoiseshell appearance. Rockingham glazed pottery was produced for everyday use by numerous American potteries and was made in many different forms including plates, bowls, and cups among other common items.
