Description

The patch of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife, depicts a white-tailed deer, walleye, and the national symbol of the United States, the bald eagle. The three animals represent Ohio’s rich wildlife diversity and the protection of endangered species; the walleye was chosen because Lake Erie is referred to as the “Walleye Capital of the World.” This patch was originally designed by Gene Whitten in 1992. Gene Whitten was a Divison of Wildlife employee from 1979 to 2006.
