Description

This Victor leg trap, also known as a Victor small animal spring pinch pan trap, was manufactured by Oneida. Hunters and landowners used this Victor leg trap for trapping rabbits, squirrels, racoons and other small animals. Bait is placed in the middle of the trap and will snap shut on the animal's leg when they grab the bait. Unfortunately, the animal will sometimes chew their leg off to escape. These traps have been outlawed in some states and in other countries due to views of the traps as being inhumane. Victor traps were manufactured from 1852-1925 by Oneida Community, Ltd. This company began as the Oneida Community, a religious based group of about 250 people, who needed a way to pay for their utopian community.
