The framed print is of an engraving by Dean Wolstenholme Jr (1789-1882) of his father Dean Wolstenholme Sr's (1757-1837) painting "Going Out." The painting shows a group of riders in the familiar red coats of the fox hunt with a pack of hounds standing in front of a house and a large tree. A woman watches them from an open window on the second floor.
Dean Wolstenholme Sr., also referred to as Dean Wolstenholme the Elder, was most known for his sporting and animal paintings. He was active with the Royal Academy from 1803-1824. His son, (Charles) Dean Wolstenholme the Younger was also a painter. His subjects varied more than his father's, and he created engravings of his father's work, as well as his own and the work of other painters.Cataloged By
