This adjustable ice skate sharpener was made by Berghman Co., based in Maywood, Illinois. It is made of metal and has a clip shape. On one side of the sharpener is a metal wingnut fastener spun over a screw emanating from inside the sharpener to adjust the pressure on the blade. There is a spring that one must push on to help rotate an internal sharpening stone on the inside. The stone is rotated and washed periodically to keep the abrasive fresh.
This item has its original box, and on the front face is a picture of the sharpener and the Berghman Company name and trademark. The side of the box reads, "A Real Skate Sharpener-Skating Joys Require Sharp Skates- And The Berghman Keeps Them Sharp ."The back of the box contains complete instructions on how to use the sharpener.Context
