WOGS_023Description
Sherry Weisgarber was a geologist and mineral statistician at the Ohio Geological Survey. She completed her bachelors and master’s degrees in geology from Kent State University.
When she began her career with the Survey, she complied bedrock-topography and drift-thickness maps, but in 1985 she assumed the responsibly of compiling the annual Report on Ohio Mineral Industries.
Sherry’s deep interest in mineral industries and education led her to direct the annual Ohio’s Mineral Industries Teacher Workshops. This program was so successful that she was asked to consult for the formation of similar programs at other state geological surveys.
In addition to her regular workload, Sherry devoted many hours to giving presentations to schoolchildren and other groups. In 1994, Sherry began the Hands on Earth Science educational activity series that was included in the Survey’s newsletter, Ohio Geology.Photograph Details
