The Lorena

Muskingum River State Park - The Lorena, date unknown: Built during the late 1800s, the Lorena regularly ferried passengers from Zanesville to Pittsburgh. The boat was named from the poem of the same name written by Henry D. L. Webster. Based on a spurned love affair that occurred in Zanesville, Webster's song became popular during the Civil War Era. In 1972, the Zanesville Chamber of Commerce purchased a stern wheeler to honor the city's maritime history. They selected an Arkansas tugboat named the Bryce M. and modified it to look like the Lorena. Today docked in Zanesville, the new Lorena regularly offers scenic river cruises and can be rented for rides, parties, and events.
