The lock and drawbridge at the mouth of the Muskingum River in Marietta, Ohio. This was the first of a series of 11 locks that allowed ships to travel from the Ohio River and up the Muskingum to reach the Ohio and Erie Canal at Dresden. Lock 1 is the only missing lock of the 11 historic locks on the Muskingum River. This lock was located by Marietta's Putnam Street Bridge, visible in this photograph's left side.
