Description

Jacqueline Thompson is a seismologist with the Ohio Seismic Network. She was born in 1989 and is from Champaign County, Ohio. She completed her bachelor’s degree in geology at The Ohio State University, during which time she also interned with the Ohio Geological Survey. Following her graduation, she began working for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Oil and Gas Resources Management. She transferred back to the Survey in 2019. At the Survey, her work includes monitoring all seismic activity within the state using the Ohio Seismic Network (OhioSeis). This is done by processing and analyzing data and maintaining the network of seismic stations. Thompson enjoys the ability to work directly with scientific data and the focus on research. When asked what her most memorable moment of her career has been so far, she referenced the June 2019 M 4.3 Lake Erie earthquake. This event prompted state, regional, and national large media attention towards OhioSeis.
