Description

This is a fluting iron, also known as a pleater or crimper. It was used to put pleating or French fluting in freshly laundered clothing. This iron was manufactured by the American Machine Co., located in Philadelphia, PA. This tabletop model is made of cast iron with corrugated brass fluting rollers and a wood crank handle. The machine is marked in raised lettering "EAGLE PAT. NOV, 2. 1875".
