Description

This silver-tone metal alarm clock is a key wind model. Although no manufacturer is apparent, it was likely manufactured in the early 20th century.

Context

Seth Thomas invented the first patented small alarm clock in 1876, and clocks quickly became mass-produced. Inventors would build many different timepieces with various features. However, in the beginning, not everyone could afford an alarm clock. It was not until the 1920s that alarm clocks became highly popular and available.
