Description

This cloth and wood pincushion with that spins for the seamstress's convenience. This pincushion was most likely used in the 19th century and may be filled with sawdust, wool, cotton, horsehair, or emery powder. Emery powder is made from emery, a granular rock that makes an excellent sharpener and cleaner. Records of pincushion use date back to the 14th century.
