This pressed glass bread plate was presented as a wedding present to Charles Doty and Isabelle Campbell Doty on February 1, 1880. Bread plates were a trendy gift circa 1870 to 1900.
Cousins Charles Doty and Sam Doty, Jr. were married in a double ceremony to the Campbell sisters, Isabelle and Eliza, on February 1, 1880. Charles' parents hosted the wedding dinner for the two couples at the Doty Homestead located in Hueston Woods State Park. Each couple was presented with a pressed glass bread plate as a wedding gift. Unfortunately, Sam and Eliza's plate broke, but Charles and Isabelle survived.Location
