Description

Adding machines are a specific type of mechanical calculator most often used in bookkeeping. These 10-key machines allowed for simple and subtraction. Some could multiply or divide. But their main purpose was to keep track of long series of numbers, which would be reproduced on the roll of paper--or tape--at the top of the machine. This adding machine includes five red control buttons which read: non-print, backspace, repeat, non-add, and total. The Sundstrand adding machine was originally patented by Gustav David Sundstrand in 1912. Prior to 1920, the Rockford Milling Machine Company manufactured the machines. After 1920, they were produced by Sundstrand Corporation.
