Context

Corviglia is located on the eastern slopes of Piz Nair, a 10,026 ft. mountain overlooking St. Moritz in the Swiss Alps. It is the site of a popular ski area and hosted the 1948 Winter Olympics and numerous international skiing competitions, including the 1974 and 2003 World Skiing Championships. Founded in 1929, the Corviglia Ski Club is today a super-exclusive winter playground for royalty and the rich. At the height of his literary fame in the 1930s, Louis Bromfield vacationed at Swiss ski resorts on several occasions, including Corviglia. - Adapted from research and text by Thomas Bachelder of the Malabar Farm Foundation
