Description

Made from Norway Iron and Bar Steel, this 19-inch Williams standard drop-forged engineer wrench was adapted for use in machine shops, locomotives, steam engines, and pumps. The wrench is stamped with a number 52 on the neck, and the ends have different size openings, with one being 2-3/8 inches and the other being 2-3/4 inches. James H. Williams originally founded and operated the J.H. Williams & Company as the Williams & Diamond in Flushing, New York, in 1882. J.H. Williams & Co. became one of the largest drop-forgers tool makers and has been credited with developing the industry-standard numbering system for wrenches that was widely used in the 19th and 20th centuries.
