This small ceramic crock comes from the famous Club 21 in New York City. It was used to hold their house made sauce. Early examples used the darker color for the numbers, but later jars used red. Some jars include the words "sauce maison." Medium's E identified the sauce as Heinz ketchup and Coleman's mustard in a 2013 post.Context
Club 21 opened in 1930, and it was open except for a short closing later in the twentieth century, until 2021. It permanently closed due to the Covid 19 pandemic, as did many other businesses in New York City and elsewhere.Cataloged By
