Description

Despite their very different personalities, George Hawkins and Jean White, called Nanny or Nanny White by the family, were close friends. While Hawkins is remembered as an animated man, White is generally viewed as more subdued and serious. This photograph shows something of their relationship. White sits on a tricycle holding a dark haired doll while Hawkins holds a bouquet of flowers behind her. Hawkins rests his hand on White's shoulder, and both appear happy and smiling.
