Name/Title
Decoy, Northern Pintail (Drake), Herter's DecoysEntry/Object ID
4.44.11898Description
Look closely and you can see the white lines on the back of this decoy's head, which indicate it is a Northern Pintail drake. The paint loss on this clearly shows that the body is made of cork, a common construction method for Herter's decoys.
Established by George Herter in 1936, Herter's decoys were made of cork until 1946, when production shifted to hollow, wooden decoys.Location
