Description

This tan life vest that shows significant wear was made with cork and covered by heavy canvas material. The vest bears two stamps. One indicates the size, state, and company where it was produced, "Adults Armstrong Cork Co Lancaster PA". The other is a stamp showing the state and year of inspection, "Passed ATRB USSIS Phil. PA 1929". Cork was used in life vests since it was the most buoyant material at that time.
