Description

Embroidered rectangular patch with rounded corners measuring 2-3/4 inches by 3-1/2 inches. This patch features a closeup of Smokey Bear wearing a hat on a black background. Above Smokey's hat is the word "Think" in white letters and below his chin is "Thanks" in red. Created in 1944, the Smokey Bear Wildfire Prevention campaign is the longest-running public service advertising campaign in U.S. history, educating generations of Americans about their role in preventing wildfires. This patch was designed in 1982 and given away as a promotional item to aid in preventing forest fires.
