Description

This electric iron is labeled "Smooth Well Iron Premier System 5 lbs." Manufactured in England, it is 220-230 volts 2 amps and has Serial#M65018 and Catalog#805. Circa 1930-1940s, this iron features a painted wood handle and a cloth-covered cord. According to the National MagLab, electric irons were patented in the United States in 1882 by Henry W. Seeley. The electric cord was added in the early 20th century, and further innovations soon followed.
