Display, Making of a Decoy - Carving Tools

Description

Carvers use many tools to create their decoys, including the draw shave (top), knives (middle), and rasps (bottom). The draw shave can cut larger pieces off the wood block to create the overall shape of the duck. The file fine-tunes those larger cuts and makes the edges rounder, and the knives are used to add in the details. Artists often use other tools depending on their preferences, and some may use electric tools in various steps of the process.
