Description

This spoke back chair most likely originated in England in the 18th century. Spoke back, spindle, or Windsor chairs chairs have their legs and spindles inserted into the seat in some manner. The technique of using steam to bend the back of the chair developed in the 18th century. This chair is designed with some decorative elements such as the curvature of the chair back and the shaping of the spindles themselves, but spoke back chairs can also be more simply constructed.
