Several patterns of china remain at the Big House at Malabar Farm. One of those patterns is Pope Gosser's Old Ivy (3123). This porcelain cup and saucer are ivory with a green ivy border decoration. The edges of this design are scalloped. Pope Gosser's Ivorlie pattern is the same as this one, except it includes gold accents. The makers mark identifies the china as Pope Gosser and notes that it is made in USA. The set includes a platter, a creamer, and bread plates.
Pope Gosser China Company was founded in Coshocton, Ohio in 1902 and closed in 1958. They joined other ceramics manufacturers to create the American China Corporation in 1929, but they broke off from the group, which went bankrupt.Location
