A set of four small graduated shallow dishes in Gorham silvertone monogramed M. A. W. (Mary Appleton Wood, Bromfield's wife). Silver hallmarks are inscribed on the bottom of each dish as well as individual numbers: B4206, B4207, B4208, B4209. The small size and shallow rims indicate these might be butter pats, used for holding individual servings of butter during a formal meal.Context
