Description

Framed and illuminated taxidermy birds mounted on branches with moths on some leaves. This specimen cabinet features birds arranged in 'flight' posture with wings opened. There are hummingbirds on the top row with perching birds and song birds perched on lower branches. The ornate gold leaf frame on the shadowbox does not conceal the wiring or light bulbs. This might have been rewired for electric lights as these sorts of displays were popular in the 1800s.
