Decoy, Canvasback (Hen)Entry/Object ID
4.44.11795Description
Used in Sandusky Bay in the 1950s and 1960s, this Canvasback hen decoy shows evidence of being shot and has wear to the paint finish.
Hens such as the decoy depicts have more muted colors than the males, who feature a red head. They are quite similar to redhead ducks, and indeed, female redheads sometimes lay eggs in their nests.Canvasbacks are suffering from decreasing numbers.Location
