The Renault FT was mass produced in 1917 and 1918. It was the first light tank with the gun mounted on a fully moveable turret, rather than a single side mount. The tank was used by the French and Allied forces, including Americans who produced the tank themselves when the French manufacturers could not keep up with demand.
