2022.4.00.A9Description
The 1982 Master Angler pin features a crappie. The pin is enameled with a dark blue background, a green scaled crappie, and the words Master Angler on the top border and Fish Ohio 1982 along the bottom border.
This crappie is slightly different than the one on the 1982 Fish Ohio pin. Master Angler has been stamped on top of the pin. Later Master Angler pins will be gold.Use
This was the 1st year for the Master Angler pins, beginning a category for anglers who catch four different Fish Ohio-qualifying species in a single year.
Only 36 anglers qualified for a Master Angler pin this year.Context
The Fish Ohio program recognizes anglers for noteworthy catches of Ohio’s fish. Since 1976, more than 400,000 anglers have been recognized for their catches. The Ohio Division of Wildlife took over the program's management in 1980.
Each angler with a qualifying catch receives a collectible Fish Ohio lapel pin. Each year’s pin has a different species of fish on it, along with the year, so the pin that the angler receives won’t necessarily have the same fish on it as the qualifying fish caught. Fish must be taken by legal angling and not from pay lakes.Collection
