George Price was an American painter, illustrator, and cartoonist. He was born in 1905 in Coytesville Park, a neighborhood in Fort Lee, New Jersey. Price's witty and imaginative drawings, often accompanied by brief captions, helped modernize magazine cartoons.
After a brief stint in advertising in 1926, Price became a contributor to The New Yorker. He soon became one of the magazine's premier cartoonists. He continued his association with The New Yorker into his 80s. Price was noted for his witty cartoons that combined the minor issues of everyday domestic life with topical events of the day. His cartoons also appeared in Colliers and the Saturday Evening Post. Price died in 1995 in Englewood, New Jersey.
