Description

This is a large ceramic ashtray. It's decorated with three boxers (dogs), a parent and two pups, that are connected with a decorative chain. The ashtray has a dark brown, glossy glaze on the bottom and outer rim. The inside of the ashtray is a mix of brown and blue.

Context

Louis Bromfield loved boxers. He got his first boxer, Rex, as a gift while living in France. Bromfield continued to collect the breed once he settled at Malabar farms and, at the most, had seven at once. In his writing, Bromfield claimed he had owned over 50 dogs during his lifetime.
