Master Angler Pin (2000) 20th EditionEntry/Object ID
2022.4.00.H6Description
In honor of the 20th anniversary of the Fish Ohio pins, the 2000 pin is in pewter and features a largemouth bass. This is the Master Angler version of the pin. It is covered in gold rather than the natural pewter of the regular Fish Ohio pin. Additionally, the state of Ohio is enameled in burgundy.
A few of these pins came out with Master Angler stamped by the post. Production stopped and the Master Angler stamp was moved to the bottom of the pin on the banner so as not to be blocked by the pin backer.Use
The Master Angler category is for anglers who catch four different Fish Ohio-qualifying species in a single year.Context
The Fish Ohio program recognizes anglers for noteworthy catches of Ohio’s fish. Since 1976, more than 400,000 anglers have been recognized for their catches. The Ohio Division of Wildlife took over the program's management in 1980.
Each angler with a qualifying catch receives a collectible Fish Ohio lapel pin. Each year’s pin has a different species of fish on it, along with the year, so the pin that the angler receives won’t necessarily have the same fish on it as the qualifying fish caught. Fish must be taken by legal angling and not from pay lakes.
