Description

The 2010 Master Angler pin features a walleye. The fish is enameled in shades of green brown with a red eye and white belly. The fish extends beyond the edges of the circle with its mouth, tail, and top fin. The background, Fish Ohio, the date, and the words Master Angler are all the same color, without enamel other than the clear coating over the full pin. Master Angler is in all capital letters above the walleye, and Fish Ohio and the date are in a larger size, also in all capital letters, below the fish.

Use

The Master Angler category is for anglers who catch four different Fish Ohio-qualifying species in a single year.

Context

The Fish Ohio program recognizes anglers for noteworthy catches of Ohio’s fish. Since 1976, more than 400,000 anglers have been recognized for their catches. The Ohio Division of Wildlife took over the program's management in 1980. Each angler with a qualifying catch receives a collectible Fish Ohio lapel pin. Each year’s pin has a different species of fish on it, along with the year, so the pin that the angler receives won’t necessarily have the same fish on it as the qualifying fish caught. Fish must be taken by legal angling and not from pay lakes.
