The 2013 Fish Ohio pin features a brown trout. The fish is enameled with a dark brown back, yellow middle, and off white belly. It has spots across its body, and its eye is yellow. The trout extends beyond the edge of the round base of the pin on one side. It is on a pewter background with Fish Ohio in all caps and the date below the trout.Context
The Fish Ohio program recognizes anglers for noteworthy catches of Ohio’s fish. Since 1976, more than 400,000 anglers have been recognized for their catches. The Ohio Division of Wildlife took over the program's management in 1980.
Each angler with a qualifying catch receives a collectible Fish Ohio lapel pin. Each year’s pin has a different species of fish on it, along with the year, so the pin that the angler receives won’t necessarily have the same fish on it as the qualifying fish caught. Fish must be taken by legal angling and not from pay lakes.
