Name/Title
Decoy, Canvasback (Drake)Entry/Object ID
4.44.11789Description
A close look at this Canvasback shows a white-painted keel that extends the full length of the bottom, plus the addition of a metal weight in the middle. Both of these structures help to keep the decoy upright in the water and not to be blown away. It dates from the 1950s and was used on Sandusky Bay. Unlike the 'bob tail' Canvasback decoys in this collection, it has a visible, carved tail.Location
