These metal clamp on roller skates with leather ankle straps were popular in the early 20th century. Patent #1910193 featured in this picture was manufactured in 1930 by the "Chicago" roller skate company.
Chicago began manufacturing roller skates in ca. 1905 and stayed in business until 1990, when it was bought by the National Sporting Goods Company.Location
