A row of tombstones along the fence at Bigelow Pioneer Cemetery. This photo was taken on May 21, 2007, and placed in a binder that belongs to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources State Nature Preserve.
This half-acre cemetery is a tiny remnant of the once vast tallgrass prairie known as the Darby Plains. The cemetery was dedicated as a state nature preserve by the Pike Township Trustees in September 1978 and is now being managed to aid and perpetuate the prairie species.
