Donald E. Guy collecting shoreline samples. The collection site was east of Oberlin Beach in Erie County, Ohio. Samples were taken in the lower part of the bluff, which is one of the few locations where laminated glaciolacustrine sediment is well exposed along the shoreline. The image was taken in the 1970s. Donald E. Guy provided a detailed map attachment of where the shore collection site was located in an e-mail to Lisa F. Long on 8 July 2016. Information about the history of the Ohio Geological Survey’s Lake Erie Group Section is available in Lake Erie Geology Office Closes by Don Guy, Dale Liebenthal, and Michael C. Hansen (Ohio Geological Survey, Ohio Geology Newsletter, No. 1, 2008) pages 6 and 7. This slide image included in the USGS National Digital Catalog for NGGDPP Grant G15AP00115 in FY2015.
