Cartography staff working in the drafting room of the Publications Section. Harold J. Flint, cartographer and section head, is in the foreground of the picture (on the right). Donald R. Camburn is in the background of the picture (on the left). In the middle of the picture, James A. Brown is working with peelcoat. Peelcoat is a clear carrier sheet with a reddish colored cellophane top. After the cartographer finished scribing the contact lines on the scribecoat, he would use the vacuum frame to expose/burn the lines onto a peelcoat. The process involves light exposure and a chemical process afterward to etch out the lines. Jim is in the process of peeling away the red cellophane in areas where color or patterns will appear on the map. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Geological Survey's main office was located at 1207 Grandview Avenue, Grandview Heights, Ohio 43212 from 1962 through May 1973. The Image was taken in 1971.
